How much are the market's annual dues?
The market's annual dues can be calculated using the formula of $10 per vendor per season per market. 2008 annual dues are due on or before August 31st, 2008 and the market should use the number of vendors in the 2008 season.
First year markets need to make an annual dues 'downpayment' of $75 to access benefits. If the market has more than 7 vendors that year, the rest of the market's annual dues will be remitted to FMAM in the Autumn.

Does FMAM have a member market liability insurance program?
Yes, we do. This is another benefit of being an FMAM member market. The liability insurance premium for 2008 is $100/market and covers the market for $5 000 000 liability.

Ours is such a small market, will it be worth it for us?
YES! We understand very much that markets vary in size and aim to tailor memberships to address this issue. We also understand that different markets have different needs. The issues of a big market close to Winnipeg differ than those in a small town with a limited population. One of the primary aims of the Association is to be as inclusive as possible, respecting the wide range of markets we are lucky to have in Manitoba. Our projects will reflect this.

There was once a provincial association in the 90's and it folded, what make this one different?
FMAM respects and honours the time, commitment and foresight of those people who volunteered for Farmers Markets Co-op of Manitoba Inc. We have not come across the goals/vision/mission statements of this organization (yet), so we are unable to draw comparisons with FMAM. However, we aim to look positively to the future. From what we have been told, we understand that volunteer burnout was a major culprit in the former provincial association. We are aware of the demands on everyone's time in our go-go-go culture and FMAM will try to do the bulk of its business in the non-growing season (ie: winter). If anyone has the By-Laws from the previous organization, will you please contact us?

We don't live near Winnipeg and provincial organizations seem to always have their meetings there.
Do we ever understand this common problem! Our AGMs are centrally located in Portage la Prairie. Board meetings are by conference call, and when a face-to-face meeting is needed, we plan around people's schedules as much as possible.

When's the Annual General Meeting?
Our AGMs are at the beginning of November in Portage la Prairie. Complete information will be sent to you through your market liaison in our Autumn newsletter. Contact us for more information if you are interested in attending and are not an FMAM member.
